Bastard Jazz Recordings presents our first digital-only release from long-time artist Jugoe. Comprised of 6 tracks, the “Tracks That Missed The Boat v. 1” EP is pretty much exactly what the title says – six joints that should have, but never did, make it to vinyl. The tracks contained herein are some of Jugoe’s most hard-hitting dancefloor killers, and we’re excited to be able to release them through the digital medium.

Kicking things off is “BitterSweet” – a track that was made specifically for Jugoe’s now-legendary live performances at San Fran’s long running Dubmission party. Starting off with a delayed out Barrington Levy sample and a grimey hip-hop break, the track works itself up into a noisy dancehall frenzy with a gritty lead synth. Next up is “Ziggy”, with a hard-hitting minimal 95BPM breakbeat, heavy sub-bassline and dark Turkish style horns. “Shotz Hotz & Hoods” is the toughest of mid-tempo disco killers with chopped up slap bass, filtered guitar, vocal snippets and sweeping gutter synth bass. “Tique Toque”, is a 105 BPM late night kind of joint with an arpeggiated analogue synth bassline and some seriously eerie Indian sitar vibes going on that flips onto itself into punchy dark dancehall. “Bootoo”, featuring syncopated synths, a dubbed out Hortense Ellis Vocal and a chugging bass is a secret weapon that’s found it’s way into the hands of DJs world-wide over the last few years. Lastly, “Bad Man Like Good Tings” rounds off the EP on a ruff’n’rugged dub-house tip with a bit of materialistic rudeboy spoken word before launching into a balls-out percussion heavy breakbeat that’s sure to set the dancefloor on fiyah!
