Bad Colours is back on Bastard Jazz, hitting us with a banging new single, “Hit The Brakes.” The thunderous four-on-the-floor kick contrasts with ambient fluttering sounds – evoking those all too familiar, early morning, post-rave bird calls – to form the backbone of the beat, while a spoken sample repeats: “Hit the breaks.” A melodic line reminiscent of early ‘10s UK house ensures the track is club ready, and, despite the song’s title, the dance floor won’t be stopping anytime soon.
