The "Out of the Shadows" EP

BJ-002 - 12" Vinyl - Aug 2002

The lead-off track on the EP, Spooky Monkey's Dream of a Place is a vision of neo-Tokyo, run through the shantytowns of Kingston. Futuristic synths and subtle, eerie female voices clash with a deep bassline, melodic keys and sick drums. Brooklyn's Schmack (aka Mujaji) remix the track with a big drumbreak and a funky bassline, still maintaining the original vibe. On the flip, Master Mosquito drops Easter Island, a classic downtempo track with delayed rhodes, funk guitar stylings, and vibraphones. Shmack's Peepers is a dreamy guitar centered peice - like Kid Loco meets Mogwai, and Saru's remix of Peepers takes the bass ultra low, and the vibe increasingly darker.
